Ren’ai quickly dodged out of the way of attacks from both her teammates. They had discovered Mitsuko this past winter, the same way they had found their last Waterbender. She kept any negative thoughts that this one would leave like the others, because she couldn’t think about that. Things had been going well, and she didn’t mind having an all-girl team once again. Mitsuko got along well with them; she was only a couple years younger than they were. It all seemed fated. The park seemed to be a good place to meet Waterbenders. Currently, they were training in their old spot – an abandoned lot just off downtown. It was their usual spot, and it had been easy enough to take Mitsuko there to train.

As soon as the attacks had passed her, the Firebender quickly whipped her back leg around, sending an arc of flame towards Yuri. Ren’ai set her foot down, and then quickly lifted the other leg to another flame towards Mitsuko. As soon as she had set that foot down, she sent a fire punch to both of them before getting back into her defensive position. Mitsuko had needed a bit of… fine-tuning when she had joined, but the girl had natural talent.

The Waterbender had just been a bit too classical not quite as quick and sharp as she needed to be. For instance, in her tryout match, she had used what Ren’ai thought was called the Octopus Form, which was an excellent move – but against the rules. However, things were looking up, and Ren’ai was staying positive. Yes, things were a bit scary right now, but she wasn’t going to give up her dream for anything. First things first, though – they had to finish training. They were nearly done, and after this match, the Captain would probably call it quits. They weren’t quite done yet, though.

Mitsuko effortlessly dodged the two attacks sent towards her by Ren'ai. When she had first joined the team the past winter she had gotten hit, a lot. Although she had spent a little under a year learning new techniques and moves that fit the rules and regulations of Pro-bending before she even joined a team, there was still the piece of her that held onto the traditional teachings. It had taken her longer than she wished for her to adjust completely and switch over entirely. Mitsuko managed to apply some of the concepts that she had been taught as a little girl to this updated version of waterbending, but for the most part, it was quite different.

In her free time, she practiced both ways. It was highly important that she mastered the new forms immediately as the majority of people she would be up against had been bending that way nearly their entire life. She needed to catch up and had been given months to do so rather than years. However, there was a part of her that didn't want to forget the traditional forms, in the event that she ever needed to use her bending in a large-scale fight, some of the traditional moves would prove to cause more damage to the enemy. The one thing that she tripped up on the most in the past months was the fact that ice could not be used in a match and while she knew this ahead of time, Mitsuko quickly discovered it was also the hardest habit to break.

Mitsuko quickly shot out a few short blasts of water towards both Yuri and Ren'ai at the same time before moving her leg in a quick arc to direct a thin stream of water towards first Ren'ai and then Yuri. The use of the lower body was yet another thing Mitsuko had to adapt to. In traditional forms, a waterbender never really used their lowerbody in attacks but thanks to the rules of Pro-bending, this had changed as well. It was almost reminiscent of traditional firebending moves with the quick kicks and short punches. It was completely different from what Mitsuko had been used to but with the change of the season, she had also gained an increased skill in the modern day forms.

Centering herself once more, she waited patiently for the next attack.

Yuri was so glad that they were working out well so far. To be honest she was afraid that Mitsuko would have not wanted to join their team. But luckily she had been wrong and they seemed to be getting along good so far, and for that she was glad. It did seem a little funny to her that they seemed to only attract female Waterbenders, oh well things like this did look to happen to them. So in a way she was thinking to herself that maybe that was one thing that jinxed them, while on the other hand she was hoping that well this time it will work. Not that she was going to tell Ren'ai her thoughts on that.

A smile touched her lips as she watched the curvy Firebender dodge her last attack, and she watched their newest member and was glad to see that they were getting into n sink. And that made her happy, but it was not like she could think about it too much before her best friend sent an attack her way. She stomped down to bring up a medium sized rock to help block the arc of flame coming her way. And she side stepped to avoid the next onslaught that was aimed at her.

She went back into a defensive pose and ready for Mitsuko to attack her next, it is true that the newest member was sure coming along. It was a good thing that she still had her rock to deflect first attack, the pressure if it had been worse it would have for sure pushed her back more then a few inches. The next time she was able to twist her body to avoid the stream coming her way. Well now that it was her turn to hurry up and show them what was on her mind.

The tall teen quickly sent a fist sized rock at both of their stomach's quickly followed up with another one aimed at their left shoulder. If anything she did not want to attack around their legs until latter because then they might be a little slower and easy to catch off guard. Yeah she knew that some days that she could be a pain by doing such things, but oh well the other teams were bound to do dirty little tricks like her.

Ren’ai dodged out of the way of the water blasts that Mitsuko sent her way, watching as they narrowly sailed by her head. She quickly dodged the water stream that she sent, too. She was improving, and that was good. They were jelling much better, and by the time next season rolled around, the Captain thought that they would be in good shape. Hopefully, this one wouldn’t leave like the rest had, but she quickly shook those thoughts out of her head. This was neither the time nor the place, and besides, she had attacks to dodge.

Ren’ai twisted her body again to dodge the rock aimed at her stomach, forced to twist again to dodge another attack aimed at her shoulder. Yuri, of course, was as sharp as ever. The match had been going well so far, all three of them being fairly evenly matched. None had succeeded in pushing anyone back yet, which was good. Everyone was blocking and striking effectively. Things were going well, the Firebender thought to herself as she went for her next attacks.

Ren’ai sent two fire punches – one with each hand – towards Mitsuko, before bringing her leg up, and sending a quick arc of flame towards Yuri. She didn’t want Yuri to have to have seen the first attacks and been expecting more punches. As soon as she set her foot down, she pushed it towards her, sending another arc of flame towards her feet, before shifting her wait. She brought her other leg up, sending another arch of flame towards Mitsuko, before putting her foot down and getting back into position.

Things had been going smoothly since she joined the team and with every day that passed the more confident Mitsuko grew that they would be successful in the upcoming season. Especially now with the coordination they seemed to have while sparring, it gave her hope that perhaps her dream of being on one of the most successful Pro-bending teams would be achieved soon. She watched the two others closely, studying how they dodged her attacks. Knowing such a thing would help her in a real match to land more hits on the opposing team and hopefully aid to push them back.

Her eyes glanced over to Yuri and she altered her position into one that would make it easier to dodge. There was one good thing about them working together so often, Mitsuko was starting to pick up on their most commonly used moves and slowly learning how to predict just what the other would do. Some days she was right, others she was way off, and there were some days she was so focused on what she was doing in the moment, she didn't really think about it. Her eyes followed the rock as it came towards her and she side-stepped to avoid the first one before ducking so she wasn't hit in the right shoulder.

Immediately as she came back up, she was greeted with two different fireballs coming towards her face. Swinging her leg up and around, she carried the water as it extinguished the flames. That was another thing Mitsuko had noticed about them growing closer, they had grown slightly faster. It seemed because they were so in sync, they moved much faster through the patterns that had created. Mitsuko enjoyed when things were fast-paced, it added another layer of difficulty. Her eyes widened slightly as she saw the arch of flame, she definitely hadn't expected that. Quickly she brought up and shot out a few short water blasts, putting out just enough of the arch that she wasn't hit.

As soon as she had finished dodging, her feet shifted and she shot out three blast towards Yuri, one aimed towards her feet, another towards her abdomen, and the last towards her head. Waterbending was the only element in which head strikes were permitted and because she wasn't allowed to use long hose-like streams of water, she tried to take advantage of the rules that had been made to aid her. Turning once more, she focused her attention on Ren'ai, and sent out a similar attack only, this time, the three blasts of water were crowded together and sent only towards her feet. Instantly, she turned to Yuri and awaited her response.

Yuri was enjoying herself for one, and by simply looking at Ren'ai's face she knew that her best friend was thinking the same as herself. Already she was ready for the next attack that was going to come her way, the Earthbender could feel herself feeling light with anticipation. Of course it was the Firebender that was next to send a warm attack her way. Then again who said that she did not have a sense of humor? The slender teen saw what was coming her way and just reacted, swiping her right foot across the ground in front of herself bringing up a thin barrier that came up three feet. She did not need for it to be really strong, but just good enough so that it was able to block the attack that could have cost her a pair of new shoes.

Luckily she was able to allow for it to crumble once it was not needed. Because she did like to be open for the next attack so that It would be fair in the sparring. She was back into a defensive stance and ready for the next attack, her eyes flickered towards Mitsuko. A smile touched her lips as she was able to shift her stance and move her feet fast enough to where she was able to avoid the first blast that was aimed at her feet. Her eyes were trained on her opponent so that she wouldn't be caught unaware. The brown haired girl was able to twist her body and duck enough to avoid the other two water attacks, oh yeah it was her turn next.

The green eyed woman thought it would be best to mix it up a bit, she sent a fist size rock at Mutsuko's knee followed by one aimed at her chest, then finally one at her right arm. Her attention went to Ren'ai, next up was sending a rock to her right shoulder, then her left knee, and finally her chest. As soon as she finished she got into defensive mode and was ready for what was next to come.

Ren’ai watched as Mitsuko easily blocked her first attacks. Good, that’s what she liked to see. The new member’s way of blocking her flame arc was creative, something else that she appreciated. She waited for the counter-attacks, only for the Waterbender to change the location of the attack. She jumped out of the way of the attacks, having to bend her body out of the way of two attacks sent by Yuri. Luckily, because of the way she had moved her body, the third attack sailed by. The Firebender immediately got back into position, ready to attack her teammates again.

Ren’ai sent an arc of flame towards Mitsuko, dropping down to send another one towards her legs, as well. She changed her body position to send one towards Yuri’s feet as well, before getting up and sending two fire punches towards her - one towards her chest, and another towards her left shoulder. With that, the dark-haired young woman got back into her defensive position again, ready to move at a moment’s notice at what her teammates had coming for her.

Ren’ai figured they were close to being done; they had trained well lately, so just another round - maybe two – and she would call it quits. She was interested to see how they would respond to her attacks, though. Maybe afterward, they could hang out for a bit? They hadn’t had much of a chance to hang out with Mitsuko outside of training. That would be nice, wouldn’t it?
